AlHazred on "Kickstarter-like Options in the UK?"

Since this is one of my favorite essential DM software tools and I believe that hard work should be rewarded, I respectfully suggest that something like Kickstarter be started for this product. I think there's a niche here that needs to be filled -- there are other sound effects programs for RPGs, but they're neither as simple to use or as reliable to run.

To that end, I did a little research on outfits similar to Kickstarter, but that can be accessed in the UK.

Looks like this project may be deceased... or at least sleeping very very deeply... coma maybe? The last post from our illustrious creator was about 9 months ago.

Would donations help? I could come up with a little more money if I thought it would get things moving again. The potential of this software is off the charts.

If you feel you will not be able to continue would it be possible to get the source code? I might try to pick up the baton myself, or find a developer that could contribute some time and energy.

Iain M Norman on "Settling into the palace of cardboard"

Well the move is finished. We're safely in our new house.

We've closed the Gigajam regional office that only I was using and I've moved everything to home. I'm surrounded by computers, monitors, mixing desks, speakers, amps, guitars, and controller keyboards!

I'm fighting to lose some weight at the moment and am making the most of the fine weather to cycle around and get to know my new town and the surrounding countryside.

The house is still full of crap in cardboard boxes though and everything is in chaos. There's not enough space to store all our books, some shelf building is in order. Today I think there's even a trip to Ikea planned.

I did have time to open the Softrope project the other day and make sure it compiles! Soon there may even be time to work on it.

I'm not entirely sure what would be the best thing to do first, I think perhaps sharing scenes with other people is the best plan?

Thanks to some incoming posts on my Google+ stream, I’ve spotted a new upcoming RPG recently, by the name of Legends and Labyrinths.

I was directed to a blog post that outlined how L&L is different from other fantasy RPGs and it makes for a very interesting read.

My first reaction was, do we need another old school remake of early D&D? But I was wrong, it’s not an OGL clone but an entirely new creation from the dark mind of George Strayton, screenwriter and game designer.

It’s seems to have a feel of early D&D melded with elements of more modern RPG thinking and I can’t wait to give it a go.

I was so taken with the ideas and game-play possibilities, that I pledged some cash to the L&L Kickstarter Campaign, thereby securing my hardcopy of the book on release. That release date of course will be GenCon next month.

Check out the blog post about how L&L is different and if you it tickles your fancy then why not secure your own copy!?

Hi. This looks like a wonderful program. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for good sound file repositories.

Thanks!

Hi, just found this program, it is great. Thanks for developing it. I have a few questions and more will most likely come.

Will there ever be a manual to walk you through all the features? What are the two little green nobs for? How do I make my sound effect not play right away when I start the scene? I set the delay, but it always plays the sound at the start of the scene then delays it from that point on. If I group sounds together and want them to play randomly, but continually should I loop it and also put a delay? Little bit of a learning curve, but so far I am getting the hang of it. As I said love the program!! Thanks.

Sorry for not responding to posts lately.

August/Sept border is the worst time at work for me as I write software and content for schools!

Back to softrope in some hopeful downtime soon!

I was DMing my D&D group a week or so ago, and sure enough, one of my players (who's admittedly pretty new to the game) told me she wanted to use her softrope to tie up a captured dark creeper. I had the program running right there at the time. So we all got a good chuckle about that. Just shows how apt the name is, I think!

And you know, I might not have known what she was talking about if it weren't for this program!

First, http://www.kings-bounty.com/eng/music.php has 11 free mp3s you can download that make good background music

Secondly, I'd like to suggest a forum topic solely for people to post resources for finding wavs, mp3s, etc. Although I suppose tags can serve that purpose, assuming people use tags correctly.
