Occasionally I start a scene and realize something is off. The scene as a whole is too quiet, one effect is too loud, one effect should be turned off completely, etc. Of course, I can always open the scene, fix it then play, but that creates a sharp break in the scene that I try to avoid in game, and no matter how much I test I always miss SOMETHING come gameday. The ability to open a scene without stopping it from playing would be endlessly useful.

It's something I had to do to cure some problems with sounds never stopping.
It wasn't an ideal fix and it still bugs me now, but it got a release out of the door.
You need to hope it bugs me enough to fix it later, which I'll endeavour to do.

Actually I was about to ask about that as well. I often come into the situation where I have a scene running and discover in mid game that something is of an needs adjustment. And the scene just abruptly stopping upon opening it of course destroys the mood.
Maybe it would be possible to open a running scene as a "copy" internally and have it overwrite and replace the running one once the next file has been played though after saving or something like that?
Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?
